1944 Mauser and Garand

My Uncle brought back a 1944 BCD Mauser from the war and gave it to me a few years back. Cleaned it up and it shot great. The sling mount was backwards so I left it that way. All matching serial numbers including the bolt. Last year I had made a mostly 1944 Springfield Garand with new barrel and stock to match the Mauser for a display. Here they are and I think they look great. What do ya think?

That's not going to happen. I know my Uncle never reversed that band and that is the way he found it on the battlefield. By the way, do you recognize the bayonet in that photo you sold me. Thanks again.

Are the stock and hand guard from the CMP, or another source? Looks great all around!

Thanks for looking. It is a Boyd's Stock. All I did was hand rub it with a little oil then a coat of liquid gold.

Very nice job.
My '55 HRA has DOD wood, but my '43 Springfield has CMP wood that was much nicer than I had expected. Boyd's has very nice stocks.

Don't know enough about bayonets to give you an intelligent answer. Might try the American arsenal forum on gunboards, the CMP forum or talk with someone at CMP - very helpful folks.

Any manufacturer of bayonet is fine for your M1 rifle. 16",10", cut down RIA's or Springfield, spear point, clip point, bowie point, Pal, Utica, AFH, whatever you decide is fine.
