Hoping someone here might have an idea as I don’t local guy wants to sell the below. Matching, black finish, manufactured in 1919, 90%+ on the finish. Asking $2400 for the lot, also includes two more magazines, mag pouch and WW1 era box of .45 ammo. Assuming this is all accurate good deal, bad deal, fair deal? Any thoughts??

If original blue/black and matching...a bargain I would say.

I have to agree.. but, no guarantees from that photo it is or isn't. I would pursue further though.

Can’t see anything from the photo but that’s a really high condition black army if finish is original. They don’t come around that nice very often

Photo is useless, but it does look a bit too shiny. Could just be the lighting, or fresh oil. Need much better photos and a close inspection of all internal parts, especially the barrel. If it's all correct and original in that condition, the price is IMO about right at the mid to higher end of market. If the barrel in particular is replaced, knock at least $500 off the price. If it's refinished, it's worth about $1000-1200 tops if you are feeling generous.

Is this a US Property marked 1911 ?. Does serial start with a letter C ?. Are magazines two tone ?.

It is US property marked, he didn’t want me to pull it apart as he thought stuff might get “scraped up” - told him w/o taking it apart you can’t know if everything matches to truly command the value... As it was all the “Colt Black” he thought that should be proof enough that it all matches... anyway didn’t want to gamble on that.

+1 Bigwagon.

BTW, If the barrel is correct for this serial number, it can be determined without fieldstripping, as the HP is stamped on the visible portion of the chamber as viewed through the ejection port. If no HP or H P is visible, then it's not correct for a military contract 1919 manufacture Colt.

As to price, IF it's totally correct and original, then $2400 might be OK.

Both Colt finishes on the early army and the late black army finish are duplicated now by very talented restorers. They get the machine and polish marks in the right direction, etc. That pics is good for determining that it may be a M1911 and there is a holster. That's about it. However, just from that pic it looks refinished. However, who knows.
