Inherited Mauser-Werke Patrone .22 identification help and advice please

Confused here, the serial number 75235 would put this rifle in the first es340 or possibly the first es350 series, not the es350b rifle posted by leon1260 in the original post. Have I missed something?

    Erma Wenzel Karabiner

You are welcome. I was double checking my measurements before reassembling and found the tip of the firing pin has a very slight slant that I had missed seeing. Remeasuring gives me a total length of 14.15mm. The drawing has the slant exaggerated, it is a very slight slant

    Erma Wenzel Karabiner

Here should be some photos and measurements of the firing pin of my Wenzel.

    Erma Wenzel Karabiner

falcon007, the bolts of my el24 and my Wenzel look similar externally but firing pins definitely will not interchange. I’ll get mine out and get you some measurements and photo, it may be a few days though

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Rather than a new thread I think my question would fit here. I have had several es350b rifles and the grooves of the receiver and the barrel were extremely close in width on a given rifle. Close enough that the rear sight of one would fit the receiver grooves of that particular rifle. Always...

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Well… in reviewing your photo of the late banner I find that the banner on my grooved es340n seems to be different from your banner! Ps, my rifle meeds cleaning but it isn’t as dirty as the photo depicts.

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Eurydice, thanks, I had not noticed the difference in the banners and probably would not have . My rifles show the different banners between the ungrooved number 94853 and the grooved number.132285. The banner of my later rifle is very slightly longer and wider than the earlier. Very slight but...

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Eurydice, I was not getting an accurate measurement with the rifle in the stock. From the measurements with the action removed I find there is indeed a larger barrel diameter and thinner receiver top on my es340n grooved compared with an es340n ( normal, ungrooved barrel). These two features...

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Additional investigation is needed, the measurement I get on the thickness of the receiver top is not enough to lower the top of the receivers plane to the plane of the barrel……

    Grooved ES 340b Rear Sight

Eurydice, It seems that in order for the grooves to run continuously , the top of the normal es340n receiver is too high, there is the step at the receiver that prevents that. It appears that metal has been removed from only the top of the receiver of the grooved es340n to have the top surface...

I appreciate the feedback, and thanks to Eurydice for posting and linking on the tircollections board. Sorry for the bold type, I can not change to normal type.

    Bolt ID help needed

May never know what rifle it fits but … Some observations of the bolt lead me to think the receiver of the rifle would have a split bridge with the bolt handle slot being at the very top of the receiver … The receiver would have a bolt stop on the left side with a large button fitting the...

    Bolt ID help needed

Muncher 1953, thanks, Yes, not an el24 bolt, I cannot find any info on the singleshot ERMA unit but I would guess it uses the same bolt as the el24. El24 bolt is on the left. The search continues

    Bolt ID help needed

I ran across this bolt many years ago and have been unable to identify it. I feel it is pre-war German but no evidence. No proofs. It has no markings at all, there possibly could be a “4” on the bolt face but I’m not able to get a photo of that. It could easily be a scratch . It seems to fit a...

    found a ES 340B

The scope is a nice vintage piece, I think correct for the rifle. The outfit looks fine on the rifle, personally I would try it and see. You might be able to run across some mounts in the future but enjoy shooting with the weaver mount in the meantime. Btw the correct mounts would be taller...

    found a ES 340B

here is a “B” action - totally different from the “N” action. Looks like a scaled down 98 action, wing safety on rear of the bolt, Mauser 98 type claw extractor. Original scope mounts with windage adjustment are relatively hard to find and pricey. I don’t know of any aftermarket mounts that...

    found a ES 340B

your rifle is actually an ES340N, not the later “B” model. I’ve been shooting one lately and accuracy surprises me. How is the windage set with this scope as the weaver mount is not windage adjustable?

    Bundeswehr training rifle

Nice rifle and good shooting. I enjoy shooting my trainers also. I see you had your sight set on 50m, was your POA the center of the bull or were you using a 6 o’clock hold?
