I am only going on my gut here but I believe that these were either left over parts from the prototype run or a limited batch of newly manufactured parts on the original prototype tooling. I am leaning towards the first assumption based on on very limited number of these parts found in 1943...

Yep these pre-production versions start showing up in the 'd' block of 43 production by my account. I missed the one that sold at the Minn. auction. B.

Stephan which location...adjacent to camp or in camp? Would be good to have production overview between the 2 locations. As he states the assembly was not done in the Gustoff factory at this time but first in a location setup next to the camp. Later as Stephan has documented an "in camp"...

Guys the printer screwed up and we have about 2 dozen copies with a small tear and/or fold on one page. We can't sell these as first line books but they could be useful as a "wear and tear" book. These will not have a dust jacket and will be marked blem on the inseam. Priced at 50.00 each...

The easiest tell is the flat face on the threaded section. All original rods will have a machine dressed cone. Head looks suspect also.

Repop cleaning rod and Mauser Kriegsmodell band but the weld has been ground down.
