    Late war Stock with problems

I am guessing it was a Mauser Kriegsmodell stock that is post war numbered and somekind of conversion to bandspring setup. You can see where the screw was mounted for the rear band. I agree the bandspring route was added.

Call for data: DRP city codes on any K98k or Banner K

Interesting in that it was cancelled, meaning that it was transferred to a new city. Could be Ffb? Appreciate others helping to figure this one out.

The rifle had no white paint when I had it. The original bolt was a later 'e' block Mauser bolt (4089e). The rifle was sold in 2014.

This gun is bad and is currently on the Rock Island web site. I know because I used to own it. When I bought it about 20 years ago it came with mm bolt. Of course some idiot had it "fixed"...thats after I sold it. Besides the bolt its a beautiful matched G date.

    K98k DRP Dortmund Mauser bnz43

Guys the rifle could be legit with the DRP marking. Stephan is working on some source material that will clarify or justify the existence of the DRP marking on a wartime rifle. I have correspondence from Jon beginning in 1942 regarding the SS and the Postschutz so lets see what Stephan can dig...

Without a good image of the top bolt flat hard to tell. I am sure there is the possibility that Mauser could have sent bolt bodies to Steyr late in the war.

    S28 to Karab98b Evolution - new insights

I have not seen the reference to "Mod.1928" before so that's completely new. The exporter is located in Athens but I wonder if that was a cover to keep this delivery under the radar so to speak. Again, another data point in this puzzle.

    S28 to Karab98b Evolution - new insights

I am revisiting this thread due to a new document uncovered by Jon. It shows delivery of 15,000 rifles under the header "Gew. 7.9mm Mod. 1928". Entry is from May 1930. Another data point in the S28 puzzle.

korea1950, we could use a pic or pics of the stock. In that range, some chatter with lots of sanding marks, E/H on right side of stock rear of disk.

Send me the stock and I will fix it - at least get rid of the filler and see what's underneath. No charge.

Info wanted on 44 BYF 98k

I think the original stock is recoverable. As long as there is no disaster under the wood filler. Stock cutout is in pretty good shape and hopefully the stock matches the action.

Info wanted on 44 BYF 98k

Metal looks good. Too bad about the stock but from my view, it may be salvageable. Knock the filler out of the sling well and stock keeper. Replace the missing section and get the parts. 600 to 700 for a shooter is ok.
