Another guy looking for help identifying “ AX” code

Do more pictures below the stock... the SDP barrel and Epack (cul) scream rework-rebarrel but there are some unusual details with what is shown. Possibly more interesting than these pictures suggest.

    K98k DRP Dortmund Mauser bnz43

Stephan's observations are always worth waiting for, these days I can barely remember my anniversary, - for good reason I never forget that tidbit, but this thread I will leave to Stephans superior methods! ** trends coupled with conjecture is rarely a match for actual facts (like Stephan...

    Mauser 71 unit mark

Consider adding a few details for the study of this variation: https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/research-project-mod-71-and-mod-71-84-craig-brown.20831/ Post #2, I recorded what was possible but a few details are guessed at...

    Kar98a choices

Probably a b-block going by trends (What can be guessed by the poor picture and right receiver, probably not e-block; doubt it L-block but L-blocks are rarely seen-poorly documented to be sure); as you are in the UK I can't judge the merits of the rifle (available market), but if you were in the...

    Kar98a choices

If I understand correctly there are a Danzig/14; Danzig/18 and maybe Erfurt/17 (BS)? The general rule is to go with the most factory original... assuming all are relatively equal (BS would have pluses and minuses, but would or could be more intriguing, -not necessarily more valuable as few are...

Stock is right, bolt is bad,- not period, nor Republican era....

G.24(t) Mauser – Original or Questionable?

It is very late for a G24t and trends suggest they are damn difficult to find w/o problems...especially this late,, dou/42 is only known to the early 3000 k-block and most have at least a few issues (not rare but most have one problem or another) Problem free the rifle was worth what it sold...

RESEARCH PROJECT - Mod. 71 and Mod. 71/84 - Craig Brown

Thanks, I added the reports to trends (post #7), I did change the report to conform to the existing pattern though, but referenced your report post number. I do not think pictures are needed when from a known collector, but thanks for offering! ** I think CB would be pleased with the trends...

    Kar 98B Primer

I agree, I was impressed by the quality of his historical context! Short and concise, but not superficial... I couldn't have done better as I tend to be distracted by the details and trivia... or as Peter once commented "preachy", but that is a natural flaw of someone who devours books instead...

    Kar 98B Primer

I just subscribed, - I saw a series on the 98a too... will check them out. *** the historical context was surprising accurate, this guy knows more than the average collector on the 1918-1927 events & timeline...

    Spandau 1916 Gewehr 98 - My First Imperial '98

Not a rare maker-date to be sure, but 1916 and this original & matching is not common... your display effort is superb, missing nothing and good quality photos, catching the BC is a real challenge for the best flippers but you caught it easily! Krupp blank is right for range, these tend to group...

    BARREL ID HELP, PLEASE

K98b - Looking for help identifying this rifle

This is rather rare rifle, worth getting if the price is right and what left of the original stock is included,- this early probably 1927 production, maybe (by serial) late 26, very hard time for Germany. ** what concerns me is the barrel, it probably saw ordnance work but to be worth a resto...

Gustloff (337 1940) sporter restoration worthy?

There are worse projects for sure, though it rarely pays to undertake such (extensive) projects.... you will rarely break even on such adventures, but I like GW also, at least until 1940, after that they get less desirable.
