Late War JPS(CE44) with restamped bolt

This is the buttplate(both sides) and under it in the wood. I am not home but these are the pictures I have of it. Seems like there isn’t a date code?

Late War JPS(CE44) with restamped bolt

I forgot to include that the firing pin is stamped 5709 and was not re-stamped along with the rest of the bolt assembly

Late War JPS(CE44) with restamped bolt

Hello all, I recently bought this late war JPS(CE44) with a U designation serial. The pictures of the sale online were a little shotty and I had to confirm at my FFL whether the wood furniture was a match or not as the seller didn't take it apart. I discovered it to be a match and accepted the...

    Opportunity to buy

Ok cool thanks. Another question that may seem really dumb and I’m sorry in advance... German dates were/ are day, month, year like the rest of Europe right?

    Opportunity to buy

Interesting. Any idea where to look for that piece? Liberty tree collectors sells laminated hand guards I see those for sale. But it looks like it’s a crap shoot of what “color” you get.

    Opportunity to buy

Oh interesting… should there be other telltale signs of it being a French owned rifle at some point in its life?

    Opportunity to buy

Thank you. On my other stock I don’t recollect it having a date stamp. So I was unsure thank you.

    Opportunity to buy

Sorry forgot to add these pictures. Curiously I don’t know what’s going on here. I haven’t seen this on my other Mauser or any of the others I’ve looked at. This was not in the pictures I was sent when I was in contact with the seller.

    Opportunity to buy

Good morning, So upon getting it back home and taking it apart I’ve discovered something. The wood is stamped twice. Once with 165 and the other time with 2740. The upper hand guard is 3563. Every part seemingly of the rifle(floor plate, magazine follower, trigger assembly, bayonet lug, barrel...

    Opportunity to buy

Thank you for your response. I was trying to figure out for over an hour why the swastikas' were missing and just wasn't coming up with the right answers. I did not do any research into JP Sauer but that's super interesting knowledge to have thank you so much. Is there any known reason for JPS...

    Opportunity to buy

I've been away so I did not see this. I still have not jumped at the purchase yet as the bolt mismatch does turn me off. There's no X on the receiver so it shouldn't be a Russian capture. I am however curious as to why the eagles have seen some defacement in the swastica. I wonder what happened...

    Opportunity to buy

Right. I believe that the back of the bolt number is a re-punch, as well as the top of the bolt handle. Maybe I'm wrong but the top of the bolt sleeve "4978" looks ok to me. The rest of the rifle not including the bolt looks correct(besides maybe the top handguard wood being a mismatched color)...

    Opportunity to buy

Hello all, I have an opportunity to buy this rifle for a very good price. In my mind this is a great deal and I plan on hopping on it as soon as I can. Anything anyone can tell me? What would you value this rifle at? I know parts of the bolt are mismatched but everything else seems to be a match.

    Id'ing my new Mauser

I’m definitely going to keep it. I don’t think the store will refund any amount of money. It’s not like they actively told me it’s a matching serial number gun. The floor plate I just looked past and was ogling at the rest. So it’s my own fault more than anything. All good. It’s the tuition you...

    Id'ing my new Mauser

Ive ordered a period blank to replace the doctored piece. Yes the guide is numbered with a proper 7 and a marking as well. I can’t take a picture for you but I did check it yesterday.

    Id'ing my new Mauser

Im not sure what to do in my case whether its get a correct era blank floor plate and just slap that on there or leave the clearly faked one.

    Id'ing my new Mauser

Thank you for the information. What great Yea so the serial numbers while are correct the font is not on mine. The plate looked out of place to me in the shop but other than that everything was perfect. So for me and my rifle it seems that the floor plate at some point was replaced with a new...

And by perfect I mean it’s strong.

    Id'ing my new Mauser

The stock most certainly has been cleaned with something. Which sucks… But I’m confused as I’ve seen a bunch of floor plates not having a stamp. I definitely paid full price. The bore is perfect.
