    FG42 and its Grenade Launcher

Got some info from Ian at forgottenweapons and 3 of the 4 that he has photos/video of are already mentioned here. Serial number 141 is a new one that I haven’t seen mentioned, that one has the grenade sight notch and standard trigger guard.

Ah, good to know! Bought this off the old g43 forum back in 2011, doesn’t feel like I’ve owned this gun for almost 14 years!

Dang it, I forgot to mention that it also has the first style of automatic dust cover that hooks under the bolt carrier. Also the front sight base includes the notch for the spring retainer for the muzzle nut, but no spring or latch have been installed.

Since I was taking it out to oil it, I figured I’d take some pictures for you guys. As with most of them, the stock has unfortunately been sanded, but the serial number is still readable on the heel. All matching made in july or august of 1944. Last 2 pictures are old but they’re the only ones I...

    FG42 and its Grenade Launcher

This one at the JM Davis arms museum in oklahoma has a type 1 that does not have the grenade sight notch, but does have the extended trigger guard. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to find a good picture online to see its serial number. This is a photo a friend took a couple years ago.

    MKb 42(W)

There was one owned by a private collector in the pittsburgh area iirc. No idea if they’re still around or what happened to the gun.

    Yugoslav mauser model 1924

From what I hear, they’re not going to exclusively cover WW2, they’re gonna cover whatever and not be confined to a fixed list. For example, they’ve already done a video on the german contract astras and then later on did an episode on specifically the russian sks.

    K43 gas block movement?

Perhaps a tapered pin will help, or you might have to drill out the hole in the block to match the diameter of the groove on the barrel.

    AC 44 G43 I recently picked up

Looks like a nice one! For a load I’ve been wanting to try is 174gr using Krag load data, trying to get it around 2100fps.

    Good Reproduction Durofol G43 Handguard

That would’ve fooled me, hopefully there’s some sort of telltale sign of it being a reproduction!

    FG42 and its Grenade Launcher

Serial number 1700 featured in vickers guide: ww2 germany volume 2 features the grenade sight notch as well as the enlarged trigger guard.

G43 machined finish, where they come from?

I would highly advise against refinishing g the wood, we would need more pictures to see overall condition.

The date could be hidden under the stock line
