    Questionable Camos

Correct. The liner is 100% real and unaltered. There is some sweat staining at the front and very light wear elsewhere. There's spots of dark paint near the crown that were there when I got it. As mauser99 said, these helmets saw very limited use, if any. I don't have Brian's book but he may...

Another beauty! I like the folded tip on the decal.

    Questionable Camos

ZF41 and M45 are correct. When I got the Q M42 shell the original interior (almost black) paint was in good shape but exterior paint had been almost completely removed. I repainted it with textured dark slate gray and added oxidation and light wear to match.

M35 DD Police Not a camo but I'll post it here. These early war apple greens are hard to do. Would you spot this as a fake?

    Questionable Camos

Exactly. This is what I mean by a faker's "signature". Helmets created by the same hand start to look alike and if you view enough of them you recognize patterns and similarities in appearance.

    That's correct!

    Questionable Camos

Here's a couple of helmets posted as real on WAF a few years ago. They're not mine. Look how they both have the same area where camo paint is absent on the left side as the rim forms to meet the visor. What do you think of these - real or fake?

    Questionable M36/M37/M38 para helmets

Thanks JHV. I'm glad you're learning from my posts. Hope others are too. If nothing else, they're a wake-up call on what can be done. That should reinforce the fact that knowledge, study, and seeking the opinions of experienced collectors are critical in this hobby. If not everyone agrees about...

    Questionable M36/M37/M38 para helmets

Smells a little like leather wax. I did it about 10 years ago. You'd have to take the liner out and examine stitching on the underside to tell it's not 75 years old.

OK. I'll tell. Liner is a complete repro. Aged FJWerke.
