    Yes, I thought the same thing. The butt appears to have been hand sawed and broken off before it was cut all the way through causing a piece to be torn off up to the trigger guard. Probably was in a hurry :).

    This rifle was supposedly brought back from Germany by a friend's uncle that said he got it from an armory in Berlin. Apparently, the rifles were being disabled by sawing off the stocks. I have done a little research on it but would like to get some information from the people that are experts...
