    1911/14 Erfurt Kar98a

Jordan buddy. I’m on the forum lol. You don’t have to refer to me as “travel company” lmao. Either way. You got an absolute score on that rifle. Me getting this other items still felt pretty lack luster I won’t lie. It’s a little rough around the edges but is a sweet carbine nonetheless.

    M1918 Tankgewehr Arrived!

Even with the weight and the bipod it’s still got a good thump to it haha

    M1918 Tankgewehr Arrived!

Take a video if you get the chance next time! I love seeing these things fire. Still one of my bucket list items.

Spandau 1915 Gewehr 98 The Phoenix from the ashes

The more I learn, the more questions I end up having, and the more I realize there is so little we know about these rifles.

Spandau 1915 Gewehr 98 The Phoenix from the ashes

That makes at least two people you’ve started in imperial collecting. Definitely some amazing work by Bill. Maybe I could learn a thing or two from him.

    Lots of shiny Gew. 98s's

That was my guess but I wasn’t 100% certain. Haven’t dove into helmets quite yet.

    Lots of shiny Gew. 98s's

Indeed I did. I really do enjoy watching both sides halt any further action to better their situation in the trenches.

    Lots of shiny Gew. 98s's

Maybe we could get an idea of the unit based off of their pickelhaube and uniforms. Best we could possibly get is a percentage on losses. On a side note, I have always enjoyed the story of the 1914 Christmas truce. It’s still my favorite event of the entire war.

    DWM 1917

I wouldn’t consider my examples anecdotal as I studied on these exact processes and materials for quite some time. I know much hasn’t changed since the start of the 1900s. Sure advancements in technology have been made since then, but the core remains the same. I’m familiar with the Suhl...

    DWM 1917

Even if they had large stockpiles of stocks. Why not bring them back in and cut them for the bolt takedown and the finger grooves? If you’ve been threatened with being sent to the frontline or court martial, why continue to not do exactly as the military/government wants? A subcontractor is...

    DWM 1917

Neat to see a later war rifle without the upgraded stock. Even more so with it being a beech Wood stock. With DWM’s location, there are two nearby major beech wood forests. What makes more sense to me would be them not having the machines/bits to make those cuts. DWM was still a commercial...

I’ll help in any way I can. You can also sign me up for a copy of that!

    Tankgewehr!

Nevertheless. Definitely an excellent set of rifles. I hope to add one to my bunch one day

    Tankgewehr!

I was thinking google translate. Or maybe see if the new AI from whatever website/company it is can translate it accurately.

    Tankgewehr!

Speaking of Tankgewehrs. Has anyone tried to translate the tank Gewehr book by Kern? Last I had heard there wasn’t* an English version.

Sturmtruppen Alpine special forces Kar98a carbine.

Fascinating! I didn’t know IKEA was around during the Great War to make stocks out of their famous ikea-wood.

    Gewehr 98 Erfurt 1902 7446d

A thought, could be the Obercommando marked guns got their discs pitched first as they would’ve been closest to the depot centers, and would’ve likely had a high rate of passing through the depots. Riding around in a car all day or standing outside a tent while it’s raining can rust these up or...

    Gewehr 98 Erfurt 1902 7446d

Odds are that it is Ostasiatisches, but there is still a chance it’s the Obercommando Army Corps. Either way. It’s neat to see a WIP unit marking. I’d say the mystery behind where it was supposed to go is just as neat. The guy guarding the door or tent would’ve likely had a rifle. Might do...

    Gewehr 98 Erfurt 1902 7446d

If it were a 1902 it would make sense that the unit marking wouldn’t have been completed. Similar to your rifle. If it were a different year than 1902 it would raise further questions. Interesting link. Thanks for sharing. Always neat to learn more on bayonets.
