660 1940 29/40 K.M. depot built rifle.

this is a re-shoot before final assembly. For those who don't remember This was found at Allentown and I thought for sure it was the same rifle posted here a while back. I was amazed after I found it that the other rifle was in Denmark. This example is marked almost the same except for the upper band and t.g. & floor plate which have a full serial #. The other parts are stamped with the last two.

Breakdown. The make up of the rifle is parts from Radom and steyr. The wood on this example was sourced from Brunn1 and is dot coded.
The stock was slightly sanded and varnished. This rifle was well deserved to be purchased and restored. I was able to quite easily restore the stock.

The real enigma of these is the serial number and Navy eagle/O proofs.

This example was built on a radom produced 660 1940 29/40 marked receiver. With a single e/77 on the right side.
The stock and h.g. have no internal serial #'s. The only stock serial is on the take down disc. Consistent with markings on other KM k98s. The stock is Pencil dated and coded.
6-12-40 Kr .
Barrel code is 2761 40 RD e/623 e/623 e/623.
I took some photos and was un-happy of the quality. But, its all I have.

bolt

the bolt is numbered oddly.. 00 on the major parts. The cocking piece and f.p. are not numbered. The bolt body is e/623 proofed under the flat but its an odd blurred strike and I couldn't get a good picture of it.. The bolt body also has no firing proof at the rear flat.

overall & comparison photo of a steyr assembled 29/40 KM marked rifle.

having a large collection at hand makes it nice to compare examples.
Here are two overalls of the finished rifle.. Then receiver comparisons to a 39 dated Radom 29/40 assembled @ steyr.

Great rifle Wayne!

The numbering location on the lower band is neat. Also the lack of a firing proof on the bolt root is interesting. My depot build has a FN bolt that isn't fire proofed.

I agree a really cool example and very unique variation. I had never even seen this variation until the one from Belgium was posted :googlie

nor had I. It kinda knocked my socks off when I did.. This one turned up @ the Louisville gun show this year and was bought by a dealer who then had it on his table @ Allentown. Luckily I walked the show and saw it.

As for the bolt. I guess at the depot level they deemed it un-necessary to apply a test proof at the rear of the bolt.

the numbering pattern on these are really odd. If you didn't know better you'd think it was a turd. If the Denmark example wasn't just posted and discussed Id of had serious doubts aobut this rifle. Im sure others did as well. That's why it sat there. It was the diamond in the rough @ the show..

Neat rifle Wayne. If it was sanded, it wasn't too bad at least.

I love that new stuff is still being found!

One more

Helo mauser99

Nice to see one more with same numbersystem.

I am the Danish guy who some months ago postet a BNZ41 and a G29/40 660/1939 with numbers like yours. (m xxxx N)

Fell free to ask for detail to compare parts.

you can add some photos to this tread or repost with a better heading and we can merge the threads. These two examples could be the only two matching examples known.
