Hello,
Just wanted to share my newest addition to my collection. It’s a late war PP ac mismatch. This one came with the flimsy late war PP box, wrapped cleaning rod, late PP manual and Walther tin. The box has a name on it, but it will probably be impossible to research any further….maybe, we’ll see what I can come up with. The cleaning rod is blued as some of them are gray phosphate. The mag is a little rarer as it’s the blued W mag, not the gray phosphate type.
The gun is a G.I. put together mismatch. It has an interesting little casting flaw in the very rear of it, sort like the late P.38’s do. Rejected weighted grips, one has really cracked and separated now which is why Walther used these grips on these late ones. Straight out of the rejection bins to get grips.
I haven’t taken it apart, so it’s “uncleaned” as she sits now.
Kind of a neat little set. I can’t say 100% for sure that this all came to the U.S. like this as nothing really puts the gun with it positively. But, it all came like this together, and I believe it’s certainly possible it all came to the U.S. like this. The prior owner had no history to share with it, other than it was in his safe for quite sometime and he believes he got it from an auction. So, I’m pretty sure the history is gone unless I can find something on the name left on the box.
