Another guy looking for help identifying “ AX” code

Hey guys, I’m new to this forum as of 5 minutes ago, I’m sure the experts in here are tired of people asking for help identifying rifles.

I recently ( last week) picked up this kar98 that was at my local gun shop ( Massachusetts)

I was looking for some info based on the markings on this rifle, what its story is. Rare or common. And a ball park of the value of it. I tried to include as many pics as I could and of any markings I have seen.

Any help would be amazing, and I look forward to learning and conversing with you all.

You have a Russian Captured rifle. Typical mix master of parts that the Russians slapped together. The barreled receiver started out as an Erma built rifle before being stripped down. I would say value is somewhere between $600-800.

His barrel and rear sight sleeve are depot replacements. Based on how beat up this rifle is it's making me wonder if it could be a Vietnam bring back. Of course tho with out paperwork theres no way to prove my theory. I believe my Depot build BCD 41 has the exact same rear sight sleeve. I'm curious what else matches and maybe OP got lucky and his rifle still has the original Erma or depot matched stock.

BCD 41 2153 Posen depot build

My first K98K that started it all, got this one in 2017? Either way it's a matching depot build except the rod. Still love this example even tho the bolt feels almost as gritty as my BNZ 44 SS contract.

Try and copy all the pictures I took of my Posen depot build BCD 41. The rear sight sleeve tho is the exact same maker as on my rifle, the barrel looks to be a steyr replacement maybe but the lack of e/280 proofs and the sloppy placement screams the action at least had been through a depot.

outdoors on an overcast day gives the best lighting. lacking that, wipe any oil off before pix (too many refections) & avoid strong shadows. you’ll need to shrink the photos to post here or use imgur or =.
 
I responded on reddit for this rifle and mentioned that it was a Feima made k98. This is correct isn't it, and I thought ERMA was AYF. I see several other members stating that it's Erma, but maybe everyone wraps Feima up with Erma anyways. That's what I read in volume IIB.
 
Do more pictures below the stock... the SDP barrel and Epack (cul) scream rework-rebarrel but there are some unusual details with what is shown. Possibly more interesting than these pictures suggest.
