Howdy from Texas and Help ID Image

Greetings!

Just a Howdy from Texas Ya'all! My name is Jason.

I inherited 2 mausers about 30 years ago and short of just keeping them cleaned and cared for, have never done anything else with them. Finally getting to go through and better document my collection and am having issues with this one.

I have talked to several shops here, and no one seems to be able to ID this proof. Serial number starts with "EA" with five numbers after.

I am hoping someone here might have some insight on this.

Thank you!
JB

Chinese made Mauser maybe....
Every gunsmith I have talked to so far thinks German .. every one of them have books with picture of proofs and nothing like this is in any of the books yet .. so I don't know .. I will look at the Chinese proofs again.

A lot of Chinese Mausers were made in field shops, or small factories doing their thing, a lot of not documented marks on Chinese stuff, that doesn't look German at all to me...

I see your point .. thank you .. I will definitely dig deeper, though may never positively ID.

My other one is a Type 99 Arisaka (late war model, intact Chrysanthemum seal) and has been easy to identify. This one is just nagging the hell outta me.
