Figured I would show this image that I got from Jon a few years back.

Picture header:

Example of material and working time savings through the transition from machining to formed parts in the manufacture of the German infantry rifle.

Translated text from back of image:

2247d/VDI-Lelirschau ! “Performance Improvement”

Total war, as is well known, requires maximum performance with minimal expenditure of human labor and materials, i.e. increased performance in every direction.
This goal is served by a VDI exhibition “Performance Improvement,” organized by the Association of German engineers. It is housed in a special Reichsbahn train
and will visit all major industrial centers in greater Germany over the next few months. Using exemplary techniques, this exhibition will demonstrate how increased
performance in the manufacture of technical products can be achieved by saving materials and labor, or by increasing production in a single unit of time.

What is interesting is the multi-piece front 'H' style band.

This is a pic of the VDI-Wanderlehrschau "Leistungssteigerung"

Fritz Todt was the president of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure since 1939. Surprising, huh ?
This show was organised by his successor Hanns Benkert:
According to C.Kehrt, he was an expert in "Rationalisierung"

End of 1943, AH created the Fritz Todt Prize to reward engineers for their findings in armament technology or raw material savings.

@bruce98k, if you want to write about « Leistungssteigerung », I translated the rationalization decree years ago (whose correct name is "Vereinfachung und Leistungssteigerung unserer Rüstungsproduktion" meaning "Simplifying and increasing the performance of our armaments production"):
