Beautiful. The barrel was already with the receiver as the code is not one from Oberndorf.N blocks are a late war favorite of mine. I was going through a stack today and ran into this. I don't think I have posted it before. Thanks, it looks like AstrawerkeMy pictures are a bit mediocre. I noticed after I took the photos yesterday but it was too late to take any more.
Hi Bruce, the barrel was finished by FN (ch) and the bolt produced by Astrawerke. Two suppliers of Gustloff, just a coincidence ?I agree, the late 'ar44' rifles are super interesting, specifically the 'n' block and the last hand-stamped series.
Add the 'bcd4' receivers into both lots and it gets really interesting.
One unusual aspect of the 'n' block is there are a handful of 'byf44' coded receivers in that group - actually the scarcest of that run.
The isn’t a Borsigwalde rifle, it’s actually a Mauser Oberndorf.Pisgah, you've made it obvious for me that I have a hole in my collection. Now I'm searching for a mid-late war Borsigwalde K98.
Clues? High bolt cutout with the ledge? I can't make out anything about that top final. The isn’t a Borsigwalde rifle, it’s actually a Mauser Oberndorf.
