Fair price?

I have recently renewed interest in the K98K and am looking to add a 1-and-only to my collection. Saw this bolt mismatch for $1450 shipped

Is that a fair price? I want a rifle that's in decent condition with all original markings/swastikas intact. I'm honestly not too concerned about matching parts. I just don't want reproductions. I don't mind spending the money on a nice rifle, but $1500 it about my limit.

This is admittedly impulsive. Are there better options for the price? Do you think that's an original stock?

thanks guys

The stock and metal have all been refinished. I am no expert on serial numbers, but the bands look off. I think this one is more humped than a new celebrity at a P Diddy party.

It would make a great shooter with that bore but limited collectability. If it were me, I would pass.

Ok yeah that's what I'm mostly trying to avoid. I'd like to shoot it, but it will not be shot much. Moreso to say I did. I'd rather have something a little more beat up than refinished. thanks bud!

Not as bad as some people are making it out to be in my opinion. It doesn't look "humped" to me but the stock does look sanded.

If you're inclined to, ask for photos of the serial number in the stock channel.

At 1450, you can do better.

To me the serial numbers on the receiver don't even look right, the bolt handle looks ground down, the stock definitely has been reworked.

Its an original dou 43 with a refinished stock and a crappy mismatched bolt.

bda, compare this rifle to other dou 43 rifle and you will see they all have the oddly large numbering. It does look goofy compared to most k98ks.

EDIT: Forgot to add, I would personally pass on this rifle. Especially if you just want one nice example.

Receiver numbers look fine, heres one I pulled from the forum. Looks like an upside down 9 used for the 6. The 3 also looks silly. Don't know enough about dou rifles to say why.

To be fair at 1000 to 1200 for this rifle you'd probably be doing decent for a shooter, especially if it isn't import marked. Considering russian captures and total mismatch rifles are pushing 1000 bucks these days.

Yep. I just saw another dou 43 receiver where the threes looked that wonky.
