Sounds like a fair price for a blued one in mint condition with a gorgeous scabbard. Polish stuff goes stupid high…especially for these harder to find rare bayonets.

EDIT: Per Tokarev38, it’s phosphated.

Looks ok for a 1939 dated Wz.29, the blueing should be in green tone, the polish pays top money for this, as this was not converted by germans, and is polish proofed.

The wz. 29 bayonets, marked with the year of production 1939, were produced in two factories, the "Radom" arms factory and TMF Perkun Warszawa (less common). The total production of these bayonets is about 70,000 pieces. Most of the production did not reach military units, but was taken over in warehouses by German and Russian troops. The price of well-preserved copies is about $ 2,000

Besides two makers (Perkun is scarcer), there were few variants: left in white, white with blued screws and lastly phosphated like the one in this thread.

When one decides to collect Polish arms, you are moving to the Major League my friend! Take a gander at the URL below:

Granted the piece is German, but the hard-core Polish P35 collector knows no bounds!
I agree the price of the Wz28 bayonet is high... but considering the date and overall condition, as others have said, it is a relative deal.
Here is another example, but the "Mobilization" variant/German modified:

Lastly, recently acquired a Polish K98 & Wz98a (the Wz I traded off 34 years ago). The latter cost six times what I sold it for then... and the K98 even more. If you want original, pre-WW2 Polish anything and condition on top of that, be prepared to shell out...

Fred, you are so right. A nice Wz29 starts at 4K and can go way higher.
As for the bayos, they have always been expensive but as time goes on, they keep climbing.

If you think that Polish bayonets, Vis pistols or rifles are expensive, there was an antique arms auction in Paris, France last week. Polish, Batorowka type sword from late 16th century sold for 130,000 euros, handle from karabela type sword from 18th century for 35,000 euros and Polish early hussar helmet associated with noble family and made for Polish market in Southern Germany around 1580 sold for 230,000 euros. Add 25% commission and 5% VAT tax on top of that.
