I just got this 43 bym w/matching scabbard. It's the first one that I've had the chance to pick up. I've always wanted to know how the serial numbers worked. Any explanations?

Hello,a method of marking bayonets with numbers stamped in two lines. The lower number changes every 200 bayonets. This method of marking was used until 1944

Ok , so every 200 bayonets made, the bottom number increased by 1? Sounds a little redundant. Was that supposed to help in some way?

That was the serialing by Ferlach, is possible each of 200pcs could be tracked to the supervisor in fabric to sample. This piece was reported on internet in 2016.
