660 code 1940

Thought I would share my all matching including the cleaning rod 1940 660 code 98k. This rifle has obviously seen combat, but still is in very good condition. Any information or input is welcomed.
Thanks,
James

Very nice, doesn’t look used too hard and a great code to find it always amazes me on the matching early rifles how much they had to go through, some hard years and still came out all matched and unmessed with..a rarity in itself

I just noticed you didn't show the acceptance on the underside of the bolt flat. Pretty confident it'll be Steyr though.

The back of the bolt and cleaning rod.

James, thank you very much for all the photos, it's a really nice "660 1940".

I have read that you previously owned "660 1940" Sn. "825 k", another great example. In the other thread I have written it got assembled around April 1941. This one has the Sn. "256 h" and it got assembled around the 3rd calendar week in January 1941.

Great rifle, the chatter on the lips of that H milled band IS atrocious, Steyr really was a mess from start to finish, but that's why we love them anyways. :ROFLMAO:

Interesting characteristic of these 660 1940 rifles is how low the takedown disc sits in the stock. Nice rifle and thanks for sharing!
