SOS show kassel depot build k98k

Warrior1354

ax - hole
I have been wanting to get this rifle photograph, as soon I got back from the SOS show Sunday afternoon. To be honest, I absolutely fell in love with this rifle. Mike Steves showed it to me when we got back to the hotel room after eating waffle house Thursday morning lol. I bet, I looked at this rifle for well over forty five minutes. Just pondering all the parts used in this build.

The money shot to me was the receiver that was used in the build, as well as the very interesting armorers front barrel band. I mean you have left over Imperial era parts, early JPS, Erma, Gustloff, BSW, BLM, Mauser, etc. But like Mike explained to me. This rifle shows desperation, and the rifle crisis of 1941. The stock is also interesting. It's unnumbered on the outside, but it is numbered inside the stock channel. There is a manufacturing date on the stock behind the buttplate too.

I wanted to give Mike a big thank you again. For starters this is the first 98k I have bought in quite awhile. So he ended that drought for me. Plus, he was right. It was a missing link in my collection. This rifle fits the bill of Imperial era, depot builds, and cool parts.

To say I'm envious is a understatement, congrats on getting such a cool and interesting rifle! :) that double manufacture struck front band is extremely interesting! I don't think I've ever seen a barrel band marked that especially the S/237 marking on it.

Well, that's a damned cool one for sure Jordan...a great addition! Mike sniffs out the cool stuff, for sure...

Wow, you weren't kidding about the variety of parts used in this one. So many different makers, from different eras, new spares and salvaged bits too! One of the most interesting pieces I've seen in quite a while. Congrats on getting a truly unique piece and thanks for sharing it.

Thank you for the kind words, guys. Even though it's not a factory original rifle. For some reason, these depot builds are always such interesting variations. And sometimes show more then character then a factory production piece.
