Hi all,
Wanted to share this P38 rig that I recently picked up as this is my first firearm to actually have some veteran provenance with it! According to the paperwork (though no capture papers)that came with the rig, the veteran was a member of the 744 Field Artillery Battalion of the XX Corps of Patton's Third Army, which did reach Chemnitz in April iirc, the city where this pistol was supposedly liberated from a Luftwaffe POW. This one is a transitional piece as far as I understand as it has the reinforced frame but still retains the lengthened cut in the slide for the extractor plunger. The pistol certainly looks like it never fired a shot in anger and saw limited life in the holster. I couldn't find a E/359 on the spare magazine but looks to be a Walther magazine regardless. Another two tone pistol, I really like the plum/blue contrast that you can find on these. Still need a cyq and byf rig but an ac45 rig would be pretty sweet too!
Pistol breaks down as follows:
Frame: 3633f, E/359
Slide: 3633f, ac/43, E/359x2, Firing Proof
Barrel: 3633f, E/359, Firing Proof
Locking Block: 633, E/359, Firing Proof, 2
Front Sight: -
Takedown Lever: E/359
Grips: P/1529/5 on left, P/1528/5 on right
Magazines: P38v(x2), E/359(only on 1)
Holster: P.38, 0/0836/0029, WaA383 (faint)
