DOU 44 welded H band variant #1332 e

Got this from another forum member back in December of 2024. Really neat to have a high condition DOU 44 compared to my DOU 44 b block which shows heavy use. The right side of the butt stock appears to have some very old penciled info that I cannot decipher (possibly a date) I'm really happy to have this rifle since only 6 or 7 are known to exist :) enjoy the pictures, one thing that also interested me was the sling not having any cross hatching pattern, just smooth and the plum colored rear sight sleeve.

Absolutely love the rough finish on the wood that has not been messed with.

Pictures part 3
I tried to get the rifle apart but the band spring is even more stiff than my AR 41 Luftwaffe. I'll eventually get it apart. This rifle has a mint more and is my first unmessed with 1944 dated rifle. Cleaning rod and sight hood appear to be totally original as well :)

Thats a fantastic rifle, nice barrel band, I wonder why they are the only factory that got them.

Thanks man, I honestly figured these were incomplete spares found in the factory that weren't complete and they just welded the bottom together to use them. I'm unaware of how DOU acquired these.

That's a beauty of a rifle congrats! I really got to pick up a dou one of these days. I wonder if this style of H band is where the Yugos got their inspiration for the welded bands on their M48As.

Than man! There really nice rifles imo, definitely better than Steyr for sure 🤣 and idk could very well be a possibility or just followed the Germans in regards to the welded barrel bands but wanted a H style while keeping costs lower.

Really nice rifle Jackson! I always thought the welded H band was a neat variation.
Thanks Chris! :) I never knew these even existed till it popped up here and another guy I go to (Joe) said it's a legit example and figured since the member was interested in selling it I'd throw him a offer for it after being sure he was ok with selling it. He rarely ever shot it and thankfully so because the rear action screw wasn't tight and I could grab the action and move it back and forth while assembled. Basically begging for a tang crack to start since for a tenth of a second a rifle weighs 40 tons (recoil)
I'm really happy to have this rifle!

Fantastic rifle. Was this the one that a new member posted a while back?
Yes it is! :) funds from that sale went to his mom for a retirement celebration vacation. I paid 2850 plus shipping for it. With how few known examples there are I feel it was worth every penny and Imo the funds went to a very worthwhile cause. I may be 28 but I'm ready to retire already 🤣
