Reassembly issues

I picked up an AC45 and for the life of me I can’t get the action cover and springs back into the bolt body. Which is in the receiver and in battery. Any tips for a stubborn reassembly?

If the bolt is in the receiver you're doing it wrong.

You're supposed to assemble the bolt with the carrier, then get that and the springs into the bolt housing (what you're likely calling the action cover), and slot that as one unit into the receiver. It's a bit easier if you've got a bolt carrier with the hold open. Once it's all together the whole thing slots down into the receiver pretty easily, albeit with a little bit of a rocking motion. Pay attention to where the cut-outs are to get everything riding on the appropriate rails.

This rifle is late. Therefore it doesn’t have the retaining/locking button on the carrier.
That's fine, the reassembly is still the same. Only without the hold open you need to hold the pieces together yourself. It takes a bit of hand strength but it's not crazy. You can also generally rest the front of either the bolt or carrier against one of the lips/cut-outs on the receiver while you get everything in place. It helps if the rifle is held steady (e.g. in a vice) but I've done it with two hands balanced on my knees before.

I've owned both. Key point is that the whole thing needs to be together as a unit when you put it into the receiver. You don't want to be putting the bolt in and then trying to fit the rest after that.

I'll give that a go. Others I have done and had success with bolt/carrier in first in battery. This one just doesn't want to clear the rear and plant down.
