Questions on a CE44 [actually CE41 4942o]

Hi gents,
I saw a CE44, o block for sale but it does not look like most ones.
The seller says it is all-matching.

CE is script on top of the receiver, I don’t see an e/37 above. Receiver has an e/359 and two e/37 on the right side. Front band is H milled. Stock has 2 e/37 stamps. The serial number is stamped two times : receiver and barrel. Barrel code looks like S50xxxx

What do you think ?

the ce 44 script in the reference has sn on receiver only, h or k block, bands are speed milled & milled
the 2 o block rifles in the reference block letter CE show sn on barrel only, have both bands of stamped type. have top receiver e/37

Yes, thanks, I checked the pic sticky and the books and I have not found pictures of a late CE44 with a Walther receiver. That’s why I’m asking.

I'd have to look at mine, but I have a 44 ce with a recycled receiver...I got it from Clay, thought it was a cool variant...might be something like a recycled earlier receiver...I'll check mine sometime this weekend...

That’s a CE41…. I have one with a similar barrel coding starting with a S. No final inspection on the receiver as well. 7.9 on the barrel shoulder.

We would need more pics of all the serialed parts to determine if it’s truly all matching. Finish looks very nice. However, from the pics and general look, it’s looking good so far.

You’re right, thanks. It is advertised as a 44 (typo ?). Now it makes sense.
I will ask more pics next week.

While a “H” band on a later war rifle is unlikely… certain legitimate scenarios are possible. Armorer’s replacement, depot rework, French rework, etc. This is why pictures are a must.

It sold for 2300 EUR including fees (here in France). I passed, too expensive even if it was in very good condition.
Man I wish my CE 41 was as nice as that one. Mine definitely spent some time in the field and the closing bid was 2425 or 2450. (2,777.76 actual shipped cost, then $25 for the background check fee)

This one was really nice and probably started a bidding war. Prices here in Europe were lower than in the USA, but it looks like times have changed.

I think they are still lower n Europe than the US. What comes to my mind was a worn, possibly touched up with cold blue and mildly sanded 1937 or 1938, all matching S/42 with the metal being close to white (trigger guard, barrel bands and barrel band spring) that reached 3300 or 3400 and the auction still wasn't over. My mind was blown wide open seeing that current bid. I tried to find it later to contribute to the 1937 MO laminate trend when another member inherited that 1937 S/42 but it was gone from GB system. I shoulda screenshot it. (was early November too early December timeframe)
