Just got this one. I think it is a cool mix of blue and phosphate. No serial number c stock. Someone made a poor attempt at a repair inside

looks like some bubba tried installing a Timney trigger at some point because the web is missing at the trigger hole. (DAMHIKT)

I was watching this one. I probably would’ve bid on it. I stopped because of the recoil lug setback.

Looks even better in person, congrats!

You got it for a very good price!

lamination separation.. You can leave it as no one will ever see it or scrape all the glue out and repair it cleanly. I like it ! Always like seeing under 4 digits and tool bit chatter

Party time in the mill this weekend. Friday I did the front end of the action inlet. Today I did the back end and repaired a stripped butt plate screw hole.

The setback splintered so much of the material behind the lug that I determined it would be better to make a new bedding block from a donor stock. I don't know how most look at this. I'm sure some people would leave "history" alone and just not shoot it anymore... I suppose "oh well" to those folks ;) As was mentioned above there was already an attempt at a repair done, and I feel better about it being properly repaired even if I never fire it.

Devcon time.

Poked a hole through.

On to the rear portion. I was able to cut away an insert from the donor stock and use its guts to replace the splintered glue mess in this one.

After some fitting and epoxy

And while I was at it, a stripped out butt screw redone.

So that's where this one sits for now. Waiting for epoxy to cure to do some final fitting tomorrow. The bottom metal fits fine now, and I'm pretty sure the action does as well but there might be one little point of contact that needs addressed. Hard telling if it was during the war or after but this poor stock absolutely pounded without a proper recoil bed and then the tang and rear action screw become the new recoil lug and all the splitting starts. You can see in many of the pictures a lot of the features on the back side of the inlet got smooshed rearwards in the process. Hopefully this will be effective at mitigating that.
