JP Sauer K98k - 1942 mfg for opinions

Have been interested in getting a basic wartime K98k and was considering this one for $2650. Have just started researching and studying these rifles, trying to better understand the what to look for in terms of repros, fakes, refinishes, etc... but I've seen enough so far to know that right now, I know basically nothing, but, everyone has to start somewhere. I would appreciate opinions on this example.

Looks legit on my end. I see no issues. $2650 isnt a deal - nor a terrible price. If that makes sense. I like it

How is the bore on it? For that price, I personally wouldn’t come close if the bore and muzzle are not pristine. I know others here place very little financial value to bore condition but I assure you it is important especially for the more commonly produced examples. I know personally that for most of the top collectors here and in the world, unless it’s a super rare code/variant, bore plays a big part in a k98k purchase.

Looks like a nice JPS example but it’s towards the high end of the price/value.

There is a steyr bnz 42 for sale on there relatively around the same price as this rifle, might be worth looking at that rifle too?

I wonder if the receiver has been touched up abit with cold blue, seems like it should be more worn imo based on the barrel bands, both my 147 1940 and CE 41 are bluing wise pretty much the exact same as the barrel bands. Stock seems a bit too smooth but pics can be deceiving and in hand it could have the rougher untouched stock grain feeling.

IMO, It’s a nice battle carried rifle in good condition. The price is what a dealer is going to get, maybe more on GB. If it was selling privately I think $2000 or so would be the price.
