My one and only Simson training rifle...this came with a K98 sling attached, so I've just left it as is....what this common to see K98 slings attached in this manner?
Simson 625b I've had for awhile....now to get the others, a, c, ....

98 Slings often are now on trainers, but not convinced they were period slung

I was thinking it might be a Stg 58 sling, same buckle, a bit longer than K98k, only two holes near the end. I have a couple of those & they fit a K98k just like on the trainer shown, buckle way back near the wrist.
