Walther PP legitimacy and Value question

Hello, someone local to me is selling his Walther PP pistol with a holster and box of ammo. My question is, is this a legitimate military PP? A lot of the examples I’m seeing have the barrel in the white, so I’m not sure. I also am having a hard time distinguishing if this is an army gun, SS gun, or luftwaffe gun. I want to say it’s definitely military due to the waffenamps on the gun, but I’m not certain. Also, is the holster original? He said he can’t find any stamps whatsoever on it. Only has one magazine, and I’m waiting to hear whether it’s serialized. He wants 900 for it. Is this good? What would be a fair offer?

I have not seen a RSHA contract waffen stamped..JoeW may have more info on that for you. Looks to be army and legitimate.

Based on the serial number, this PP was made in late 1944, and looks to be legitimate (as others have stated). There does seem to be quite a bit of pitting and fading of the finish in several places, and a small crack in the left side grip. That being said, $900 may be a fair price in my opinion.

If you don’t have one and “need” one for the collection 900 isn’t a great price, but it isn’t awful considering it also comes with a holster.

In addition to Army pistols, the Luftwaffe contract guns were also stamped with the E/359 on the slide and frame. Outside of knowing (by looking in a reference book) what serial number ranges the Luftwaffe guns were, they also had a matching serial numbered magazine, which the Army PP's did not.
