1941 Portuguese K98k questions

I've been trying to figure out the details on this rifle, I believe it is a Portuguese M937B that was rebarreled. Came without a handguard and my replacement K98k handguards too long or the stock itself has been modified to cut length, I believe it has a duffle cut or some sort of repair job and refinishing.b50609c0c9510f5527a0c069766e5a04.jpgd6d1070b4dfe352bc857a8396953f888.jpg88d485922a6c9c73907a0416991c7fbc.jpg

Does the barrel step line up with the front band? It appears to me it does. You might have a 98/48 hand guard attached, and that’s not the same.

Maybe a US Gi Bringback with wrongly duffle cut? Looks like laquered? it does have same serial as metall?

I think it does, I am sure the handguard is an original K98k one and not 98/48, I assume its a GI Bringback since it has no import marks on it + dufflecut. Stock has been refinished so much that any of the original markings/material is gone. I think maybe the stock itself was grinded to fit the sling band. I may have to look for a new stock..

Yes this is the one with the replacement barrel I saw on Facebook. Neat rifle. Looks like duffel cut may be improperly repaired? Kind of hard to tell the issue from limited photos.

Yep that was me. I believe that that "new" cut was driven into the stock for whatever reason. I think the stock has been modified so much I may just need to find a replacement stock for it unfortunately. 10b43566aeb40c472c1f5032b91ba38b.jpg

just an observation.....the serial number on the barrel and receiver are not original factory applied. It has been renumbered at one point in time.
