Great post. My 1916 Spandau came to me with the front "clip" section for the dust cover assembly on the rifle, but the rear portion had been long lost. What is really cool about my rifle was the genuine wear on the stock that showed the "clip" piece had been affixed for a long-long time, and there are two scars on the rear of the stock near the bolt gas shroud where the dust cover had bitten into the stock due to an impact. I found one of the repro covers for my rifle and have been tinkering with it to make it match the condition of the rifle ever since. Not trying to fool anyone upon inspection, but trying to make the repro part blend into the rifle for display.
