Franz Hinze Zerbst military rifle?

I don't know if this is the right forum, but one of our members made a post and was asking about an auction that listed a lot number as "Franz Hinze Zerbst military rifle"...

He took some pics of it at the auction which I've attached here. He added "The name that started with a Z was on the left side of the barrel by the breech and the first two names were on the other side. Check out the size of the rear sight!!!"

I think you may have found one of the very, very few rifles that can be linked to a specific person. As Franz Hinze is recorded on the memorial, there may well still be town records with further information (unit etc). There are several Zinkes in the Zerbst telephone directory. As Zerbst is in former East Germany, i.e. an area with limited mobility after WW2, the chances are good that they are related.

So, do you guys have any idea what this rifle is, so I can pass back to them any feedback?

Thanks ...

Regards,
Doug

Appears to be a Wehrmannsgewehr, probably originally in 8.15x46R, likely single-shot, which has been sporterised.

Hello from Germany
It is probably my great grandpa.
The family Hinze had a Shop in Zerbst.
They were specialized for Huntingrifles.
