My latest find, a 1916 J. P. Sauer. Glad to add this one to the collection, especially after seeing some of the stunning Sauers a few members here have.
This came from a collection but luckily nothing obscene had been done to it, only a few more recent scratches probably from being packed in a safe. It wasn’t overcleaned and has that "out of the woodwork" look. The usual spots that collectors miss needed gunk removed, like the rear sight slider which now moves flawlessly.
It's a great example of a typical 1916 consortium Gew. The make of the components is consistent with my 1916 Haenel, with the same specific parts on both being made Haenel, Schilling, and Sauer, respectively. What is really nice about this Gew is that the acceptance is easy to recognize due to the condition, and helps give an idea of what parts each member of consortium made (which i suspect changed as time went on).
Not much else to say, on to the photos.
