11mm Mauser Schutztruppe Police Rifle

I am not exactly sure what company the first photo is. It does look like they are in German South-West Africa. They could the Witbooi Nama Trooper company. After the Herero Rebellion African units in German South-West Africa were Disbanded and outlaw to serve with Schutztruppe. Africans could serve, but they could only serve in Landespolizei. African police officers mainly carried billy clubs and they had to pass qualifications to carry a reichsrevolver 79 or 83. The most well-behaved African police officers were allowed to carry a rifle.
The second photo is of the Kamerun company. They were exiled to German South-West Africa in 1910 after a mutiny. The Kamerun company were promised their freedom to return home in return for service. These wartime African units saw no frontline action and were all disbanded before the end of the campaign in South West Africa. They were also not allowed to carry modern 98 Mauser rifles or carbines. The Kamerun Kompanie were finally returned home in 1917
