In the battle for Normandy he was hospitalized with skin problems.

I can't read or decipher his surname, so I have to go with Horst D for now.
Horst D was born on September 12 1926 in Dusseldorf, he lived with his parents in Essen/Stoppenberg, he was an apprentice hairdresser.
In November 1943 he joined the Waffen SS, he got his basic training with the training and replacement unit of the 17th SS Pz Gr Div GvB in Iglau-Maren.
He will serve the entire war with the 17th SS Pz Gr Div, so for more information where they fought just use the link I provided and perhaps buy a book about this unit, it is well known SS unit.
Afterwards he joined the 6th company of SS Pz Gr Rgt 37.
On July 6 1944 (during the fighting in Normandy) he was admitted to a hospital with #25 illness (skin problems).
- I had Soldbucher of soldiers that were burned with white phosper that had that entry too but it can also be he just had a medical condition.
He was taken care of in a Navy hospital in Bordeaux.
After a short time in the divisional replacement unit he was transferred to his divisions frontline unit in the autumn of 1944, then they were in Eastern France. (I can't tell if it was with the infantry or recon unit)
Soon after he was at the front he was WIA, #31a = bullet wound.
He was admitted to hospital on October 2 1944 and discharged on October 20 1944 to his replacement unit.
After he is recuperated he is with first company of the divisional recce unit, he remains with them until the end of the war.
A nice entry is that he was issued a fur coat in January 1945 (for operation Nordwind).
It is odd that the Wounded Badge in Black isn't entered, it could be that they were written on a seperate page and that got lost.
Like I said absolutely original, no combat related awards but that isn't odd for the Waffen SS, they had a higher standard for awarding them then for example the Heer or Luftwaffe.
