“Z” Marked Flare Pistol

Looks like an “ayf” code production. Here id the one I owned that I pictured in an article I wrote about police use of flare pistols. Mine was a commercial Erma production believed to have been issued to police combat troops.

Very cool - this one is actual an “AC41” marked one. I will have to poke around and see if I can find a projectile, would be a unique pairing.

The cartridge fired from the Z pistol was detonated on impact as shown in the above photo. The Sturmpistol was a standard LP24 with special barrel insert that fired an egg shaped grenade type weapon by use of an attached sight and shoulder stock. The shoulder stock was sometimes used with the Z pistol according to some combat police documentation that I found. Noted LP24 collector Howard Resnick has had these on display at past Show of Shows to explain the difference between originals and numerous examples of repro stocks and sights produced in Europe.

Sorry for the confusion. You Z pistol has the clinometer ( or Level - Lebelle - bubble sight) with which they were issued. I thought when you wrote “sight” you meant the visual sight found on the Sturm Pistole shown here which fired grenades from a special adaptor, rather than the rifled explosive cartridges from the Kampf (Z) Pistole.
