Hi all,

I recently picked up an original Karabiner 98 manual, thanks to another long-time member here, so I thought I'd share the set.

These published regulation manuals are a dry read, but there is interesting info in them as well. I've got a couple dozen of the various manuals published regarding drills, shooting and misc procedures related to the military. The weapon ones seem to be the hardest to find and the more interesting reads.

Both of these read like a technical manual with no pictures, that was gives a little insight to what SOP should be. Naturally, at the outbreak of war, I have no doubt that deviance to some of these regulations increased significantly.

The Gewehr 98 manual has the added benefit of bearing a unit stamp for the 11th Jäger battalion.

The Karabiner 98 manual includes a set of corrections from 1912, 1913 and 1914

Nothing really new or Earth shattering, but thought I would share a couple pics and table of contents, as these seem to have become much less common in recent years.

"Nothing really new or Earth shattering?" Come on Chris these are fantastic fines. These manuals are in great condition. Sometimes finding documentation is more exciting than finding a rifle or pistol.
Thanks Mike, I just meant that there probably isnt anything we don't already know about in them. Finding original manuals though is definitely a treat.

Thanks, half of the manuals are about cleaning ! It might have been very important during peacetime.
