Greetings here is my new k98 1944 dot aw block, parcel kreig with chatter stock and non drill stock for cleaning rod. I have some pictures of when I first viewed it and when I got home. Sorry about the poor pictures and mess, home renovation and my guy room is the overflow room now… thanks to the forum members that helped me sift fire from what I believed was a great rifle to a non altered one.

Any input would be great and how can I tell if the sling is correct?

God Bless

Great looking rifle. I seem to come across dot's more than any other maker. I have a 1943 and two 1944's.
ac block and at block

I thought I was the only one lol, I love dou and dot’s since the first k98 was with my dad and a dou 1943. I like how they are made outside Germany and late war ones I believe are hard to come across since a lot were send to the Eastern Front.

I like them too, have 2 dots a 43 & a 44 shooter.............

From my Quick Look in my 44-45 book it’s October of 1944 for the beginning of aw block. Is this correct?

God Bless

I am curious... is the wood numbered internally?

The "book" suggests "av" was the last block... before "no letter" #50,000 - 70,000 and lastly "a" blocks. October/ November would seem about right for mfg given the table (p. 666). My "au" rifle is numbered.... and not drilled.

I really like these transitional rifles with no rod. I’ve got an Av just like this and a couple dou’s And think they’re really an interesting period. Always wondered why only the Czechs did this. Nice honest gun.

re: c/r - tradition? backup way to clear a bore obstruction? it does seem curious, given the wide use & distribution of rg34s. same w/klemstuck of sling, lots of easier, cheaper, less resource consuming ways to anchor the sling. I think the idea of a side mounted sling is genius, but the stopper is absurd.
