AR 44 22938h

Sadly not the first enhanced rifle I’ve seen at Collector’s Firearms. Becoming somewhat of a pattern with them. At first I assumed ignorance but it’s possible there is some ill intent there.

Here is a BCD4 with a bunch of bogus stock markings. Ironically it probably is the original stock.

Ohhh yeah you’re right. It’s hard to trust what you see these days. That’s why I ask here now.

Stock markings are restamped imo.

In 2016 Hugh Brock sold this rifle and said the same thing...he wrote "WaA FAKE" in the barrel channel which shows his character as a seller. An old KCN'r he died in 2016, - one of the good guys and an early researchers.

Larry got ahold of it and sold it in 2017 but I only saved the pictures from the auction. Attached find Hugh's sale text and the LR auction that show what Hugh added inside the stock.

GERMAN K98K RIFLE, AR 44

Price: $ 1,295.00
Item Number: 19829
Qty:
Category:
Military Guns
Long Guns
DESCRIPTION: Standard WW2 German service rifle made at the Mauser-Borsigwalde (Berlin) plant, the old DWM Plant. This was the last year ar made 98k's, and these are very hard to find. Complete with original sling, stacking rod and sight hood. No exterior stock number but stock and handguard with correct original number inside. Matching FN eagle/140 bolt with round gas escape holes.

Rifle stock has one large and 2 small WaA135 inspection marks which have in my opinion been added here in the US along with a very small and crude eagle/135 on the bottom of the barrel and right side of the receiver. Mauser-Berlin is about 400 miles from Mauser-Oberndorf, and this is the only ar rifle I have ever seen with any 135 marked parts. Mauser-Berlin apparently was able to make lots of parts, but did not have enough assembly personnel to keep up. That is why ar rifles were using earlier style parts later than the other plants, and in the end were sending receivers to other plants for assembly. No other changes or alterations after the War except duffel cut repair. Here is another instance of an ignorant collector ruining a perfect rifle. He could just as well struck them in a 2x4. I remember back in the 1960's a Delta flight captain proudly showing me a Canadian Hi-Power stock with an Eagle/135 stamp he had applied from a new stamp. This one got me!

CONDITION: Excellent plus. Metal finish shows only very slight wear on the trigger guard wear, blue is dark, no rust. Stock excellent. Bore as new, rifle shows no signs of being fired. Sling sound and supple. Duffel cut repaired by me using 2 threaded drill rods and epoxy---every thing lines up perfectly horizontally, vertically and lengthwise and will never come loose. Impossible to tell anything has been done to it without taking it apart! Have done hundreds of them and know how to do it! Fake Eagle/WaA135 and Eagle/135 marks. "WaA135 fake" in pen inside magazine well.

WOW, you don't to see that level of honesty anymore imo, would there be anyway to remove the added stock stamps from that AR 44?
