Swept-Back 98k Sniper for sale at Acme Imports International

Took a gander at their site and it looks awful. the 'ss' standard modell "K98" turned sniper is re-numbered. Plus I'm not an SS marking expert but even to my eyes the markings look very fake. The fact of the matter is, it's super difficult to become an expert on any SS rifles because they're SO dang rare. 99% of the "SS" items out there are fake. Even the serial numbers on the receiver & barrel look humped. They claim to have all these ultra high-end snipers and want thousands of dollars but they only post a few photos that are in practically 480p? Nah. Steer very clear of that sight IMO. No one source has a sudden stockpile of premium snipers. Much much much more likely it's another chum humping up rifles to make them seem like originals, and then throwing a scope on them to pass off as sniper rifles.

Wow. That smacks of the old 'Humper McBride' cat. Not sure if it was ever proved HE did them but man the circumstantial evidence on him was pretty strong.

I'm so glad I found this forum. The wealth of knowledge and tracking of humped guns. Its nice being able to do a little searching and find out if something for sale is a known turd.

A lot of the guys here have been doing this a loooong time. The same rifles often pop up over and over again and pass between collectors. If you've been doing this long enough, many come around full circle.

bump to point out a more recent posting of a swept-back 98k sniper rifle that "looks to be all original"

(same website as my original posting)

With pictures of 500 pixel width in nowadays world I really wonder as to why they are not able to provide better pictures. Did you see anything else that isn't visible on the website that you claim it "looks to be all original"? I wouldn't dare to call it anything at all with these pictures.

PS: They btw claim to have found this rifle in Hungary - I therefore would wonder where this rifle is import marked?
