Hi All,
Here's another adoption from Mike. This may have been previously posted, but I thought I would give a fresh photo spread and my observations. While a common maker/date, this rifle is anything but common for a variety of reasons. The most obvious feature is that it came with several accessories (not original to the rifle, but they fit well and look great).
- Weissenburger Sliding Dust Cover
- Bing Extended 20 round (not "Trench" please!) Magazine
- Sudicatis Radium Luminous Sights (Early/Milled version)
Also of interest is the wartime unit mark on the stock (likely) denoting J.R. 605. 5. K. 225 (Infantry Regt. Nr. 605, 5th Company, Weapon 225) It's a bit of a wonky style-- and this is only my best guess on the marking translation--- but I know there are variances with wartime markings. I'd defer to anyone who has more knowledge on the subject.
The rifle itself looks textbook later 1916 DWM. Stock is a very attractive beech in color and grain. While it's definitely "been there" I like it compared to some of the minty "tricked out" Gew98s you see.
I did not take the front dust cover section off to check barrel code, but I don't think there are any surprises waiting under the wood.

Cleaning Rod 11
Bolt Body 1511 bb

Thanks for looking---- and Mike thanks again for trusting me to take care of this one.
