I lied and now have egg on my face

I remember when California was a veritable gun mecca. Golden State Arms outlasted a lot of the other big surplus houses, and they'd often import some pretty unusual stuff.

    Mauser KKW

Nice one. Has anyone figured out the "D.F." marking yet, or is that still a mystery?

    New K98 Barrels

Those barrels were short chambered so the headspace could be set with a 7,92x57 finish reamer. Lothar Walther chambered them for 7,92x33mm.

    New K98 Barrels

Assuming we're talking about the short chambered (7,92 Kurz) K98k replacement barrels with the steps, last I checked LW was was going through some import gymnastics and was finally told "No dice". And for some unknown reason, they aren't planning to manufacture that barrel at the Georgia facility.

    Mostly Matching BYF 41

In this day and age, I'd say $800 shipped is very fair for a mismatched M/O with an excellent bore. I could only imagine what that would've realized on 'broker, and the war story that might've accompanied it.

    ? K98 bnz/byf

I had long been under the impression that "force matched" referred to the practice of lining out a non-matching number, and adding a matching number with an electro-pencil (such as with RCs). I would think the process of filling in or otherwise removing an existing number and restamping it to...

    Jammed Bolt after shot

Primary extraction issue. How's the chamber look? Peer in there with a penlight and have a look, it should be bright and smooth.

Often you can cut the gloss by merely wiping the stock down with solvent on a rag. Usually methanol is enough.

    High rings for Mm410B

I expected more of a chin-weld actually, but it isn't bad at all. Probably not much worse than AKAH mounts. Ever see the sight height on some of those metallic silhouette rigs?

    High rings for Mm410B

Yeah, they're fine. Plenty of clearance between the mount and receiver crest, and the 1.50-inch height allows the bolt handle to clear the chunky magnification ring on this Optika5 2-10x42 PA. The 1.30 height would probably be okay with a sight having a slimmer exterior profile.

BTW, I don't own a 1710, but the receiver in his photo appears to have geometry quite similar to the B-model Mauser:
