    I'll try the Swedish Mauser, the firing pin release does not match K98 and looks like the M96 ....the Nagant might also be correct I have never owned one and not familiar with the bolt firing design. Great information thanks for your time and effort on my behalf.

    I just got back from colorado, I was able to verify that it is not compatible with eitherthe Steyr or the Swiss K-31 still looking at the 1896 Swedish Mauser as the most likely fit however the English script kinda leads towards a Brit or USA rifle. text 409-497-6556 for more detailed photos than...

    Thanks again, Ian always has great info. The one depicted is different than my 30 caliber unit both the mounting system and the sear catch are different. I'll look into the Swiss rifle which is 7,5 and may have a different sear.

    That was an honest thank you for a helpful response. I looked at both of the straight pull Swiss and Austrian rifles online and think that this unit must fit a rotating bolt action.. I'll try to take more pics tonight however I am packing for a road trip and it might slip my 73 yr old brain...

    This is a EL 24A marked single shot unit ...markings: ERMA emblem over chamber, Erma Werke Munchen -Dachau Made in Germany, then next line: Cal 22 Long rifle Model 24a Nr C 1478. The unit does not fit in a K98 and the firing pin release is similar to what I remember my old 1896 Swedish Mauser...
