Bcd4

Hi guys,

Hope you all are doing well!
My buddy got this all matching bcd 4 but I suspect it’s a fake one. My reason is the stock as well as the markings on the barrel as some of them marked 37 whereas this gun is supposed to be a 1944 production? We bet $20 on this( I hope that I'm wrong on this tho). What do you guys think? Thank you!

Congrats on what looks to me to be a totally correct bcd! I believe it's a 1945 assembly or close to it and is correct with the Semi Kriegsmodell stock and the Sauer barrel! Sorry Bud, you just lost $20.

Your buddy just bought this off gunpost didn’t he?

I saw that rifle too. I first thought it was bad, but I know very little about Gustloff rifles and I ended up finding out it was legit.

Congrats to your buddy!

Ah I see. Didn't know there's a thing called semi Kriegsmodell. Thank you for your reply buddy!
Now I'm gonna EMT that $20 to him, hopefully he will buy me some beer with that money

Congrats to your buddy!

I think he did. He said he fought for it without doing much research.
Lucky him. Now he has a great rifle and $20 from me...

These are Waffenamt 37 proofs, they do not refer to the date. They indicate acceptance at J. P. Sauer & Sohn, maybe a part moved from Sauer to Gustloff? Mike and Bruce will know better, just pointing this out.

The two crude cuts in the receiver rail were already pointed out, never seen anything like this. What looked the most weird to me are the serials on the gas shield and the safety. But maybe that is also the picture.

bolt

I’m no expert, but a Gustloff fan. The pic sticky is your friend!
The bolt #s look fishy to me, not so much the #s themselves, but the surfaces they’re stamped into look reground, both the place on the gas shield & on the bolt root. Hope I’m wrong!

Would like to see a better close up photo of the bolt numbers. That would tell. Any suspicions'

SVW1945

The numbering could be ok. Those 1s would be tough to fake. But I believe the stock has had work done. When you see dirt and black all down in the grooves and tough to get areas but clean uniform colour on top, it’s a bad sign for me. I think it was chemically cleaned at Some point. Not to try to drag it down, if your friend is happy that’s great, but it should be mentioned

yep shame someone cleaned the stock, oh well value of the untouched ones just went up if it was not re-numbered

Better pics. of all aspects of the bolt parts would be great, the numbers on the shroud do look quite weird. It would be interesting to see if the shroud has a "ghn" or "n" code on it and what waff. is on the bottom of the safety. :happy0180:

n code on the right side

Thank you guys for all of the replies here. Just got some new pictures here.
